DETAILS DEBUTS
THE THOMPSON HOTEL POOL

DETAILS made a splash with the premiere event at the Thompson Hotel’s new pool in Manhattan’s trendy Lower East Side. As the first installment to our DETAILS DEBUTS event series, the party packed a punch with signature Patrón cocktails—Patrón Pineapple, Patrón Grapefruit, and Patrón Pomegranate—and music by DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry.

PERRY ELLIS CELEBRATES SPORTS & FASHION

PERRY ELLIS and DETAILS demonstrated how sports and fashion can work together when they teamed up to host two all-star retail events. First, on March 5 at Dillard’s La Cantera in San Antonio, 250 guests had the opportunity to meet San Antonio Small Forward Bruce Bowen.

Next stop, Oklahoma City on April 4, where 300 guests gathered at Dillard’s Penn Square Mall to meet Dallas Tight End Jason Witten. The Oklahoma City Police Department added to the excitement when they hit the PERRY ELLIS runway for a formal fashion presentation.

With qualifying PERRY ELLIS purchases, guests at both events received a basketball or football signed by the athlete.

MACY’S SPOTLIGHTS THE ACADEMY OF FRIENDS

MACY’S and DETAILS hosted a memorable evening of fashion, music, and cocktails at MACY’S Union Square in San Francisco on March 27. Over 25 models featured the season’s top trends and kept the crowd of 300+ entertained as they shopped, ate, danced, and drank—all for a very good cause. The Academy of Friends is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting HIV/AIDS direct care and prevention education agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area.

THE GOOD LIFE AT COACHELLA

During the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Palm Springs, JELLY, FMPR, and TAPInc. converged on the Viceroy Hotel to host ‘The Good Life,’ presented by Vitamin Water Sync, April 18-19. As media sponsor, DETAILS was in on the action with an A-list crowd of actors, musicians, and entertainment VIPs relaxing poolside and enjoying free Flip cameras, food, cocktails, cabanas, and live performances from the bands we’ll all be talking about this summer.

THE VERSACE LP640 LAMBORGHINI ACCESSORY COLLECTION

VERSACE and DETAILS launched the new Versace LP640 Lamborghini Accessory Collection on April 15 during a VIP cocktail party at the Versace boutique on Rodeo Drive. Guests enjoyed Johnnie Walker Gold cocktails and mingled with professional racecar driver Dario Franchitti and DETAILS Senior Writer and ‘Rides’ Editor Ian Daly, our co-hosts for the event.

Driving the automotive theme home, DETAILS provided one guest with a VIP Race Package including a private racing experience and two tickets to the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach the following weekend—where Franchitti drove away with top honors.

IT’S AN ORIGINAL

It was an afternoon of original fashion and art on April 25 at Ron Robinson at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. DETAILS and ORIGINAL PENGUIN—in collaboration with Gen Art—partnered to host ‘It’s An Original,’ featuring an in-store art installation of unique work by emerging LA artists Mercedes Helnwein, Kris Lewis, Greg Simkins, and Nathan Spoor. More than 200 guests enjoyed complimentary snacks, Red Hook beer, and Kim Crawford wine while listening to beats by DJ Hoss.

DETAILS & UNDER EXPOSED

On February 27, DETAILS presented UNDER EXPOSED, a collection of photographs by Spiros Poros. Capturing the emotion and dedication of Cuban athletes, UNDER EXPOSED goes inside the Cuban National Ballet and Cuban Boxing Club to document what has never before been photographed by an outsider.

Guests including Harvey Keitel, Kylie Bax, and Constantine Maroulis enjoyed Remy Cointreau cocktails while viewing the exhibit at NYC’s B-Train Studios.

“ALWAYS BET ON BLACK” WITH BLACK —KENNETH COLE

On December 13, Black —Kenneth Cole fragrance and DETAILS hosted the “Always Bet on Black” event at Lavo in Las Vegas—proving “It’s Better in the Dark.” The event was in celebration of the Black—Kenneth Cole fragrance, as well as Kenneth Cole’s Awearness Fund, a not-for-profit mission to raise awareness, stimulate public debate, and provide inspiration and opportunities to help communities get involved and give back. Guests had a great time at the Blackjack tables, while enjoying complimentary Effen cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a live DJ.

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE EVENT SERIES

During Fall 2008, DETAILS and SAKS FIFTH AVENUE partnered to host an event series in six store locations nationwide. In Boca Raton on November 7, DETAILS’ Senior Market Editor Matthew Marden gave a live fashion presentation featuring upcoming trends for the season. In Palm Beach on December 4, Eugene tong, DETAILS’ Market Editor, hosted a similar fashion presentation showcasing looks from the Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Department.

Guests at each event enjoyed complimentary hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails by Tommy Bahama Rum.

FIRST AND TEN FASHION WITH PERRY ELLIS

On December 4, PERRY ELLIS and DETAILS hosted “First and Ten Fashion” at MACY’S Herald Square. A DETAILS Style Correspondent presented the latest trends and must-haves from the PERRY ELLIS collection, followed by a special appearance by star running back, Brandon Jacobs, who signed footballs provided by PERRY ELLIS for a minimum purchase.

HENNESSY & DETAILS TOAST THE INDEPENDENTS

On November 18, HENNESSY and DETAILS hosted an event at Southside in NYC to toast the independent spirit of Rogues Gallery designer Alex Carleton, as seen in the November issue. Guests were treated to complimentary Hennessy cocktails, food, and a live DJ.

THE DETAILS DRAMBUIE DEN

On November 6 and 20, DETAILS partnered with DRAMBUIE to present the DETAILS DRAMBUIE Den at Ultra in NYC. Attendees were invited to enjoy signature DRAMBUIE cocktails, music by DJ Serious, passed hors d’oeuvres, and gift bags. Guests also got a taste of the DRAMBUIE Pursuit with virtual reality goggles channeling a first-hand experience of the race across Scotland, and on-screen footage of previous Pursuit adventures.

 

MADE IN ITALY WITH MACY’S & DETAILS

On October 2, MACY’S and DETAILS teamed up for the “made in Italy” event at Macy’s Herald Square. Details fashion director, Michael Macko, hosted a fashion show and presentation while guests enjoyed music by DJ dove, Italian-inspired hors d’oeuvres, and specialty cocktails. Football legend, Marty Lyons, signed autographs for attendees.
