How to Wear One Pair of Jeans for Three Different Occasions
Jeans have range. They can be considerably dressed up or decidedly casual. If you’re aiming for a formal look, select a pair of dark jeans and wear them with a crisp white shirt and patterned tie. Throw your navy blazer on top, add a white cotton pocket square, and you’re dressed elegantly enough for a party.
If you’re dressing for a laid-back evening, opt for jeans in a medium to dark wash and pair them with a collar shirt. Undo a button or two at the neck and roll up the sleeves. Trade the cap toes for loafers and skip the tie. If the occasion is a ballgame or a barbecue, you can wear a pair as faded as you like. Just make sure, as always, that your T-shirt is clean and your sneakers are spotless.

- Friday Meetings
- Thankfully casual Fridays are just about extinct. But if the work meeting is on the informal side, you can wear jeans with a blazer, tie, and polished wing tips.

- Drinks and Dinner
- Shed the office-worthy blazer and tie and pair your jeans with a sweater instead.

- Weekend Errands
- Throw on a polo and white tennis shoes for daytime shopping expeditions.
